Swagbucks Hacks & Tips to Make More Money

The post Swagbucks Hacks & Tips to Make More Money appeared first on Millennial Money.

Swagbucks is one of the most popular reward apps for earning free gift cards. There are so many different ways to earn on Swagbucks, it’s hard to keep up with the best tasks and tips to make the most money. To help you make more money, we’ve put together the top Swagbucks hacks.

We’ll also cover some Swagbucks “hacks” that don’t really work, and common FAQs people have about earning money online.

8 Swagbucks Hacks to Maximize Your Earnings

Here are the top Swagbucks hacks you can start using today:

  1. Follow Swagbucks on Social Media
  2. Use the Swagbucks search engine
  3. Claim cash back on all your purchases
  4. Play all the featured games
  5. Explore the top Swagbucks offers
  6. Be strategic with how you cash out
  7. Read the blog and help articles
  8. Invite friends

1. Follow Swagbucks on Social Media

Make sure to follow Swagbucks on social media: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Here, Swagbucks will share updates about the best new offers, cashback shopping increases, contests, giveaways and free Swag Codes.

Swag Codes are strings of letters that you can use to earn Swagbucks points or SB. Look for Swag Codes on social pages, in blog articles, and in other ways, the brand communicates with you.

  1. Go to account settings.
  2. Select “Redeem Swag Code.”
  3. Enter the string of text.

A free SB reward will get added to your account, typically in the range of 1 to 3 SB.

While Swag Codes are usually daily (you can find one code per day), this is not a guarantee. There could be days when a code is not available.

2. Use the Swagbucks Search Engine

You can set Swagbucks as your search engine to make an extra $50 or more every year.

It takes less than a minute to set this up so you can earn rewards each time you search the web. You can even make Swagbucks your default search engine.

Every time you search the web, you earn up to 15 SB. The SB is rewarded at random intervals (i.e., every fifth search). The idea is to reward you for staying active on Swagbucks.com and to offer you additional ways to earn cash beyond doing surveys and completing offers.

If you don’t want to make Swagbucks your default search engine, you can earn SB for making internet searches directly from the Swagbucks.com website. Just go to the “Search & Earn” box at the top of the page.

The reward structure is the same; you’ll earn SB at random for using the search bar to search the web. However, you have to remember to use this function every day. If you set Swagbucks as your default search engine, it’s automatic.

And you can feel confident in the Swagbucks’ search results. The Swagbucks search feature is powered by Yahoo!.

3. Claim Cash Back on All Your Purchases

If you’re not claiming cash back on all your online purchases, including groceries, you’re missing out.

Swagbucks’ online shopping portal has over 10,000 popular stores, including gobs of national and regional chains. From eggs to electronics, you can earn cash back for whatever you buy. Cash back rebates range from 1% to 25%, with percentages regularly updated for different holidays or sales promotions.

  1. Visit the Swagbucks shop page and select the store where you’re going to make a purchase. You can use the keywords search feature too, by entering the merchant’s name in the search bar.
  2. Install the free Swagbutton. You can add it to your web browser with just a few clicks. The Swagbutton will automatically alert you whenever you’re on a website with a cash back reward. Then, with just one click you can get the cash back bonus for shopping on the website — no need to remember to begin your visit from the Swagbucks website. The Swagbutton will also alert you to new surveys and new Swag Codes.

Also, make sure to get your free $10 cash for making your first cashback purchase through Swagbucks.

Spend $25 or more at any featured store, including Best Buy, Walmart, or Macy’s, and get a free $10 gift card. This bonus promotion is good for your first purchase made through Swagbucks. The bonus is applied as 1,000 SB to your account. The SB can be redeemed as PayPal cash or a gift card to Amazon or other popular stores of your choice.

4. Play all the Featured Games

One of the most fun and under-used ways to make extra money is by playing games. You can use Swagbucks as your main hub to discover fun, new games that will pay you cash.

Visit the “Games” section on the Swagbucks “Discover” page. Here, you’ll find several dozen free games you can play in exchange for rewards ranging from 25 cents to $171.

These games pay you cash because popular game developers, like Skillz or Tether Studios, want more players. They pay Swagbucks a reward for sending them new users, and then Swagbucks shares a cut of the earnings with you to encourage you to check them out. There are a few different ways to earn these gaming rewards.

  • Install the free app on your phone.
  • Open the game app and register for a free account.
  • Reach a certain level of the game within a certain amount of time.
  • Watch videos (promotional ads) within the app.
  • Log into the game and play every day for a certain number of days in a row.
  • Make an in-app purchase (of any amount, even a couple of dollars) within the game.

The more involved the offer, the higher the reward.

Make sure to read all the terms and conditions of any game offer so you understand exactly what it is you need to do to earn the reward.

If you were to complete all of the free, eligible offers at any given time, that’s an extra $500 to $1,000 in free money you could make.

As many of the games are quite involved, you will need to focus all of your gameplay on one game at a time for the time-based rewards. If you’re looking at multiple games that will pay you for reaching a certain milestone within 7 days, for example, do not pay two or more of those games at once. Focus on just one game at a time.

5. Explore the Top Swagbucks Offers

Make sure to explore all the free Swagbucks offers on the “Discover” page. You can earn extra cash for trying a variety of money-saving or money-making offers.

  • Personal finance: earning a $1 to $5 bonus for checking your free credit score from a featured partner is a common offering. Other personal finance offers include credit card or fintech related deals.
  • Free money-saving quotes: most of us have been pitched before to save money on new windows or new auto insurance. But did you know you get paid to be pitched? Insurance companies and home builders want the chance to save you money and win your business. You can submit your information for free quotes and earn 25 cents to $8 in the process.
  • Get free e-books and e-recipes: You can earn rewards (ranging from 2 cents to 50 cents) when you sign up for e-books, e-recipes, and e-brochures.
  • Sign up for e-newsletters: Earn rewards (ranging from 1 cent to 50 cents) for signing up for e-newsletters or even print newsletters mailed to your home address.
  • Sign up to get free samples in the mail: Earn rewards ranging from 10 cents to $5 when you sign up to try free samples, like deodorant, detergent or other consumer packaged goods delivered to your doorstep.
  • Sign up for other survey sites: You can earn 25 cents to 2 dollars for signing up for other survey sites. Swagbucks knows that its members like to have multiple online hustles, and will partner with other market research outfits to have more earning opportunities to share with their members.
  • Mobile app discovery: Get paid for installing new apps (i.e. Box Tops for Education) — these rewards can vary from 5 cents to $1.

6. Be Strategic with How You Cash Out

Did you know that for only $22, you can get a $25 gift card to Amazon each month? Amazon gift cards are on sale for 12% off on Swagbucks every month — for the first gift card you cash out up to $25 in value. That’s like getting $36 in free Amazon money every year. And it’s not just Amazon.

You can save 12% off your first $25 gift card redemption every month for a number of other popular rewards too, including:

  • Prepaid Mastercard gift cards.
  • Prepaid American Express gift cards.
  • Electronic gift cards (delivered to your inbox) for dozens of popular stores, including Target, Walmart, Apple, Starbucks, Lowe’s, Apple, Home Depot, Uber, or Sam’s Club.

Beyond the 12% discount off your first $25 gift card each month, Swagbucks has other ways you can get redemption deals.

  • On the gift card rewards page, select the amount you want to redeem: $1 to $5, $10, $15, $25, $50, or $100 and up.
  • Then use the filter to sort results by “Highest Discount.” You’ll see prizes and other gift cards on sale for anywhere from 2% to 17% off.

Regardless of how or when you like to cash out, make sure that you’re taking advantage of these savings.

If you wanted to cash out a $100 Best Buy gift card now, you would want to do that in two redemptions:

  • Cash out a $25 gift card using 2200 in SB points.
  • Then cash out a $75 gift card using 7500 SB points.

For just $97 worth of Swagbucks, you’ll have redeemed $100 worth of rewards. Or, you could choose to withdraw $25 in rewards each month and let the other earnings continue to build indefinitely.

7. Read the Blog and Help Articles

Many rewards apps have blog posts and help articles about how to make the most money using their app, but this is where Swagbucks especially excels.

Swagbucks has a number of blog articles, social posts, and Help Desk articles about how to be successful at Swagbucks. These articles share the best hacks and latest product offerings.

  • Step-by-step guides on how to earn your first $50 on Swagbucks or how to earn $500 for completing the current month’s best free offers.
  • Reminders about small (often forgotten) tasks to earn daily rewards, like the daily goal list, answering the daily poll question, or uploading your grocery store
  • Limited-time bonus SB If there’s a limited-time increase in SB payouts for select retailers, trivia, or the referral program, Swagbucks will share all the details in the blog and help articles.

8. Invite Friends

Swagbucks is more fun with friends and inviting them to join Swagbucks is the easiest way to earn rewards. Referral income is basically passive income. After you get your friend to sign up, you can keep reaping the benefits long after.

To do this, share your Swagbucks referral code or referral link with your friends and family. Earn $3 upfront for each qualifying referral, and then 10% of their earnings for life. This is an especially generous referral program — most only offer a small one-time bonus.

Note that to get the $3 sign-up bonus, your referral must earn $3 within their first 30 days — but this is extremely easy for beginners to do.

For the 10% earnings, that’s a commission that Swagbucks will share with you for as long as you and your friend remain active members. You’ll earn this 10% commission off their revenue-generating activities, like searching the web, answering surveys, or installing the SwagButton browser extension. You won’t earn 10% off their prize winnings (i.e., Swag Codes) or any friends they refer to the program.

If you consistently share Swagbucks with your friends and social followers, you could earn an additional $25 to $100 a year.

Swagbucks Hacks That Don’t Work

We’ve discussed some great Swagbucks hacks that can help you make more money, but let’s look at some Swagbucks hacks, or scam hacks, that don’t work.

  • Sending your referral code to yourself at multiple other email accounts. Swagbucks will flag this. Your additional accounts will be closed and your original account could be banned or permanently restricted.
  • Creating multiple accounts. To prevent fraud, only one Swagbucks account per member per household is allowed.
  • Completing an offer that you have already done before — prior to becoming a member of Swagbucks. For example, many game offers are for individuals who have never before installed and/or played that game. The game can track new vs returning users by your app store profile.
  • Answering survey questions inconsistently. Some members will answer Swagbucks’ survey profile questions dishonestly in an effort to try and qualify for as many surveys as possible. When you answer profile questions inconsistently, you will receive fewer and fewer surveys. The Swagbucks algorithm won’t understand who you are, or how to match you correctly to the right survey opportunities.
  • Using a VPN. Swagbucks doesn’t explicitly ban VPNs, but we recommend against using them. Why? Even if you do use a VPN, you will run into issues when you try to cash out. Member eligibility is vetted before you can redeem any account balance. If you are not based in an eligible country, you will not be able to cash out your earnings and will feel extremely frustrated. Even if you are based in an eligible country, if you have misrepresented your location (i.e., said you lived in the U.S. to gain access to more offers), you will not be able to cash out rewards unless you reside where you have claimed to in your profile.
  • Returning your cash back purchases. You cannot get or keep cash back rebates for purchases that you return. There is a long window (up to 42 days) for cash back rewards to credit to your account to avoid this. But if a cash back purchase is returned, the earnings will be adjusted (removed) accordingly.

Alternatives to Swagbucks

There are other sites like Swagbucks that you can have fun with too, here are some of our favorites:

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get 10000 Swagbucks instantly?

To make money fast on Swagbucks, your best bet is to head to the Swagbucks offers page. You’ll find a number of high-paying offers that pay $25 to $125 or more.

As of the date of this article’s publication, some of the highest-paying Swagbucks offers include:

  • Make one trip as a new Uber driver, and earn a $250 bonus.
  • Refinance your student loans for a lower interest rate through Credible and you’ll unlock a $250 cash bonus from Swagbucks.
  • Change up your direct deposits this month. Get two qualifying direct deposits made in your new Chime account and get a free $175 cash bonus.
  • Deposit just $5 with the Webull investment app and get $30 free.

How can I get 1000 Swagbucks in one day?

1000 Swagbucks points, or SB, in one day is the equivalent of $10 and there are many ways to reach that sum.

  • Answer surveys. By qualifying for and completing 10 surveys, you could reach $10 or more in earnings. (This could take a little time as you will not qualify for every survey you attempt.)
  • Answer the “Survey Profile” questions on the survey dashboard page. You can earn 2 cents for every quick set of 10 questions (multiple choice) you answer.
  • Complete the daily “To Do” list, a list of tasks to complete on Swagbucks, and earn bonuses of 7 cents to $2.
  • Swagbucks Search. Use the Swagbucks search feature every day.
  • Visit the “Discover” page every day and look over the newest offers. There are many free, easy offers like daily “Click & Earns” where you can get paid for visiting featured websites.
  • Play Swagbucks trivia every day — both live games (on weekdays) and daily games (one game per 24 hours) in the Swagbucks trivia
  • Scan all of your grocery and supermarket receipts; earn SB for submitting any receipt and for purchasing select items. You just need to take a picture of your receipt with your smartphone to get this reward.

Reaching 1000 SB in one day is about consistency and variety. You need to return to the Swagbucks site or app often and complete a range of high and low-paying activities.

How do you get more Swagbucks hacks?

You can get more Swagbucks hacks in a number of different ways, including:

  • Keep reading Millennial Money. We will continue to share with you the best hacks to earn gift cards and PayPal cash for Swagbucks — as well as other survey apps like InboxDollars and Survey Junkie.
  • Follow Swagbucks on social media where social media managers continually update followers about the latest product changes and limited-time prizes.
  • Join Swagbucks user groups and forums on Reddit, Quora, and Facebook. In one especially popular Facebook group, members talk about Swagbucking their way to Disney. Users share how they save and use their Swagbucks earnings to pay for the entirety of their family vacations to Disneyland and Disney World.

How do you get big Swagbucks fast?

To get big Swagbucks fast, you’ll need to complete some of the highest-paying activities quickly. This could mean:

  • Complete several of the highest-paying offers. It can take time to credit, so visit the Swagbucks offer page now.
  • Book your next vacation on Swagbucks. Save money using OTA (Online Travel Aggregator) sites like Expedia, Priceline, or Travelocity — and earn 1% to 4% cash back rebates on your total purchase. With travel being a big-ticket expense, it’s easy to clear a tidy sum in cash back travel rebates.
  • Buy gift cards on Swagbucks. You can earn cash back rebates of 3% to 35% for buying gift cards to hundreds of popular stores on Swagbucks, including Southwest Airlines, Delta Airlines, H&M, Macy’s, Old Navy, and more. If you’re already shopping at these stores, stock up on gift cards and cash back rebates.

Can you make a living off Swagbucks?

No, you can’t make a living off Swagbucks. Any Swagbucks review telling you otherwise is fake. Swagbucks provides its users with a fun range of ways to earn PayPal cash and gift cards in the app or on the Swagbucks.com website.

Most active members (logging in at least 4 or 5 times a week) can earn an extra $50 to $250 a month. Some extremely dedicated members do manage to achieve “Diamond” status, earning at least $20,000 in total lifetime earnings.

Is the Swagbucks app real or fake?

Swagbucks is very real. Based in El Segundo, Calif., Swagbucks has paid over $700 million in cash and gift card rewards to members around the globe. Most of Swagbucks’ user base is in the U.S. though.

Swagbucks has been regularly featured in reviews and news stories as a top way to earn cash from your home, and their members are extremely satisfied.

  • Swagbucks has an average rating of 4.3 (out of 5) stars on TrustPilot, based on over 33,795 real member reviews.
  • Swagbucks has an average rating of 4.3 (out of 5) stars on Google Play, based on over 122,000 reviews.
  • Swagbucks has an average rating of  4.4 (out of 5) stars on iTunes, based on 90,800 reviews.

Additionally, Swagbucks’ parent company (Prodege) is accredited by the Better Business Bureau where it has a “B” rating.

Is Swagbucks a good side hustle?

Yes, Swagbucks is an excellent side hustle for consumers looking for a casual way to earn extra money during their spare time. You won’t get rich using Swagbucks, but you can realistically earn a few thousand dollars a year by doing surveys, playing games, and completing other offers from your phone or your laptop.

If you’ve got an Internet device and WiFi connection, and are looking for a sideline (not a FT job), Swagbucks is a lot of flexible fun.

21 Side Hustles That Pay Weekly

The post 21 Side Hustles That Pay Weekly appeared first on Millennial Money.

It never hurts to pick up a side gig, even if you have a full-time job. Side hustles are great ways to earn extra money in exchange for your services or expertise. They can be a way to monetize your hobbies, pursue your passions, or learn more skills that apply to your current job.

A good side hustle is a great place to start if you’re ready to boost your earning potential. Here are some of the best side hustles that pay weekly to help you earn more, learn more, and make the most of your spare time.

21 Best Side Hustles that Pay Weekly

1. Freelance Writing

No matter the industry, every business involves some writing. As a freelance writer, your job is to write content for companies that do not have the time or skill to do it themselves. You can specialize in types of writing, such as website copy, newsletter and email copy, social media captions, ad copy, and more. You may also choose to instead focus on a specific industry, such as fitness or finance.

Finding freelance writing clients is easier than you may think. You can promote your services through third-party freelance platforms like Fiverr and Upwork. You can also reach out directly to businesses you’d like to work with, known as cold-pitching.

2. Proofreading

Where there are writers, there must also be editors. Writers always need a second set of eyes to look over their work. As a proofreader, your job is to read over what someone has written and provide feedback and copy edits. This is an invaluable service for writers who don’t have the time to self-edit or business owners who are wary of their writing abilities.

Much like freelance writing, a wide array of clients seek proofreading services. Many proofreaders offer their services to clients in specific lines of business. For example, you may work with freelance copywriters, journalists, or self-published authors. Upwork, Fiverr, and Reedsy are excellent platforms for offering proofreading services and finding clients.

3. Grocery or Food Delivery

Grocery or food delivery is a great way to earn extra income outside of your day job if you have access to a vehicle. Since the pandemic, many people have relied on grocery and food delivery services like Doordash, Uber Eats, and Instacart to bring their food directly to their doorstep. Not only is this a great way to earn money, but it also pays more regularly than other jobs.

Getting started with food delivery is easy. Most delivery apps only require you to be over 18 years old and have reliable transportation to pick up and deliver orders. Typically, you can sign up as a delivery driver and start working after they confirm these details.

4. Social Media Management

Some of us understand social media better than others. Believe it or not, that’s an incredibly valuable skill to have. If you’re a wiz at planning, captioning, and creating social media content, you could offer your services as a social media manager.

As the name implies, social media managers are tasked with managing content creation, digital advertising, and community engagement on a person or business’s social media platforms. Social media is invaluable for companies to promote products and services, engage with customers, and advance business goals. Because most small business owners are pressed for time, many are willing to pay to offload the work of maintaining social media accounts to a social-savvy individual.

5. Transcription

Can you type at the speed of sound? Then transcribing might be a side hustle for you to make money online each week. Transcription jobs require you to transcribe audio and video files into scripts that can be easily read. These jobs are available across several industries, including journalism, television, gaming, medicine, and more.

The amount of money you can earn through transcription jobs will vary depending on the industry, your experience, turnaround time, speed, and accuracy. The more practice and experience you gain, the higher rates you are likely to earn. You can look for transcription jobs on websites such as BabbleType, TranscribeMe, and Rev.

6. Virtual Assistant

As more people explore the world of digital entrepreneurship, the demand for someone to handle the more technical or administrative aspects of running an e-commerce business grows. Many companies are turning to virtual assistants to take over tasks like scheduling, bookkeeping, planning social media posts, and more.

As a virtual assistant, you must be able to juggle multiple responsibilities. The job of a virtual assistant can be relatively open-ended. You are taking over the aspects of a business that the owner doesn’t have the time or expertise to handle on their own. Because of this, you must be exceptionally organized to take on the role’s responsibilities.

You can find virtual assistant jobs in a multitude of ways. Start by asking if any of your friends or acquaintances need help with specific areas of their business, known as warm-pitching. You can also cold pitch to businesses you have no prior experience with. Finally, you can apply for jobs through job boards, such as LinkedIn or UpWork.

7. Blogging

If you’re looking for a side hustle idea that can earn you good money, look no further than blogging. You are probably aware of some top-earning bloggers, such as Neil Patel and Vani Hari. But you don’t have to quit your day job and become a full-time blogger to earn extra income each week by blogging.

If you enjoy writing and are passionate about a subject, you have the foundations of a blogger. Blogging doesn’t require you to scour job boards or apply for jobs. Instead, you will need to secure a domain name and website and begin writing blog posts. Once you have a solid base, you can apply for Adsense to start placing ads on your website. As your blog grows, you can collaborate with other bloggers and begin building your larger content strategy. When it comes to blogging, the sky’s the limit.

8. Dog Walking

Are you looking for some company on your weekly walks? Dog walking is a simple and surprisingly lucrative way to earn extra income. As many office workers and pet parents know, it can be stressful to work a nine-to-five and still give your furry friend the exercise and care they need. Dog walkers are a lifeline for people who still want Spot to get his daily walk in while they’re at the office.

Most people seeking dog walking services go through a trusted third party. Rover is a popular app among people seeking both pet care services and jobs. Getting certified on Rover will take a little legwork, but having some extra company on your walk and some extra cash in your pocket will be worth it.

9. Real Estate Investing

Real estate investing is an excellent way to earn passive income if you’re too busy to pick up a side hustle that requires extra time. There are several ways to invest in real estate that don’t involve purchasing a property outright. In fact, you can get started in real estate investing with as little as $10.

Ready to get started today? Real estate investment trusts (REITs) and crowdfunding are two popular real estate investment options if you are ready to start earning now. Real estate investment trusts (REITs) let you buy fractional shares of a pool of real estate assets, which is controlled by professional investors. Similarly, crowdfunding platforms allow you to throw your lot in with other small investors to fund larger projects. These are two ways that you can see weekly returns with relatively little effort.

10. Pet Sitting

People are always looking for someone trustworthy to watch their pets while they’re away for work or vacation. If you love animals and are interested in snuggling with dogs or cats throughout the week, pet sitting is a great side hustle to begin.

Like babysitting, people don’t want to pick a random person off Craigslist to look after their beloved pet. Instead, they typically go through a trusted third party or agency to find a reliable pet sitter. You can also find pet-sitting gigs by asking people in your friend group or community. You may eventually find that the real reward comes from the wagging tails and purrs, not just the extra weekly paycheck.

11. Driving for a Rideshare Company

If you have a car and don’t mind driving people around, consider driving for Uber, Lyft, or another rideshare service. You would be hard-pressed to find a person without a rideshare app on their phone. People always need rides to and from doctor’s appointments, restaurants, and more. Driving people to and from their destinations can easily earn you a few hundred dollars each week.

One of the best parts about driving for a rideshare company is that you can work when you want. You can set your schedule and take advantage of the times when people most need a driver, such as a Friday or a Saturday night on the town. Lyft is one of the many rideshare apps that pays its drivers weekly, and you can even take advantage of their Express Pay program to cash out immediately.

12. Renting Out a Spare Room

Do you have an extra room in your house that’s collecting dust? Consider renting out your spare space. Airbnb is a popular platform for renting out additional rooms or guest houses to thrifty and adventurous travelers. If you don’t mind hosting strangers in your home, this can be a simple way to boost your weekly and monthly income.

If you aren’t comfortable with random people sleeping in your house, you aren’t alone. There are other ways to earn money from your spare rooms than letting people crash there. You can allow people to use your extra room as storage space through apps like Neighbor Storage. This is a less invasive way to earn more from your spare room.

13. Website Testing

Websites of all kinds need to be tested before they go live to ensure there aren’t any issues with the user experience. If you understand the ins and outs of navigating websites, you can earn some pretty sweet cash working as a website tester.

Website testers offer their thoughts and suggestions to website owners regarding their site’s functionality, aesthetics, navigation, and more. Typically, a website tester will use an on-screen recorder and microphone to record their thoughts and provide feedback as they navigate a site. The ultimate goal of website testing is to identify any problem areas and gain third-party input regarding the website.

If you are ready to start testing websites, there are several sites you can use to find jobs. UserFeel and UserTesting are two of the most popular website testing job boards and offer roughly $10 per test.

14. Investing in Stocks

If you were to ask the world’s wealthiest people what you could do right now to build wealth, they would probably tell you to start investing in stocks. Thanks to the rise of brokerage apps, stock investing is easier than ever. Not only can you earn money each week (depending on the market and stock performance), but you will also earn all this money passively.

You don’t need a ton of money to start investing in stocks. Apps like Robinhood, Public, and Acorns let you begin investing with as little as $1. All you need to do is open an account, transfer money from your bank account, purchase stocks of your choice, and watch your investments grow over time.

15. Becoming an Influencer

Love or hate them, influencers understand that growing a social media following is a great way to generate an additional income stream. But you don’t have to shoot for one million followers to pad your bank account. Plenty of influencers earn extra cash from as few as 1,000 followers.

Influencers earn money through affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is when a brand or company gives you a commission for facilitating a sale. They track this through custom discount codes or cookies, allowing a company to see that a shopper came to their site through a link associated with your social media profile.

Not sure where to start? Amazon lets you create a custom storefront and will pay you when customers purchase items from your profile. Don’t forget to add the link to your bio!

16. Starting a Small Business

Do you have a business idea you’ve been knocking around? Or perhaps you want to monetize your hobby? Starting a small business can be a doorway to larger success.

Starting a business is easier said than done. But you can easily start small through sites like eBay and Etsy. If you want to offer a product or service, create a profile on one of these platforms and begin promoting your business.

The beauty of sites like Etsy is that you can gain traction on the site once you start making sales. If you decide you’ve grown too large for the platform, you can jump ship and create your own site. The most important thing is taking the first step.

17. Taking Surveys

Sometimes, all you want to do is sit on your couch and watch TV. As it turns out, there is a side hustle that can let you do that. Survey sites let you earn cash and gift cards by giving your opinion through online surveys. Not only can you binge on Vanderpump Rules, but you can also make extra money while you’re doing it.

These sites work because marketing companies pay sites like Survey Junkie and Swagbucks to solicit valuable marketing data from consumers. The survey sites set aside some of this money to pay survey-takers for their time and honesty. If you take some time each night to fill out surveys, you will be surprised how much you can earn for relatively little effort.

18. Freelance Graphic Design

Do you have an eye for design and know your way around InDesign? Graphic design is an excellent service to offer as a freelancer that can help you earn money weekly.

As a freelance graphic designer, you help businesses create visual content for their website, advertisements, emails, social media pages, print deliverables, and more. Understanding graphic design principles and tools is highly sought after, so many businesses are willing to pay top dollar for talented individuals to handle their design work.

Just like other freelance professions, there are several avenues you can take to find graphic design gigs. You can reach out to people you know or contact local businesses to see if they need your services. You can also check freelancer job boards like Upwork and Fiverr to apply for jobs.

19. Babysitting

Babysitting is a first job for many people, but it is also an excellent way to earn money each week as an adult. Parents are desperate for responsible people to watch their children. Providing childcare services, such as babysitting or nannying, is a great way to pad your wallet and help out parents needing extra help.

Most of us know people with young children, and odds are those parents need a babysitter. Ask around to see if anyone is looking for a babysitter or nanny, and you may be surprised how many people are willing to take you up on your offer. You can also find local listings on sites like Indeed or Care.com.

20. Online Tutoring

Even if you aren’t a teacher, you can earn extra weekly money by tutoring students online. No matter the subject, there are always students and parents seeking educational guidance. Offering to help tutor students online is one of the most rewarding side hustles you can take on.

There are lots of online job boards that hire tutors across a variety of subjects. If you want to offer traditional academic tutoring, you can apply for jobs on sites like Chegg or Skooli. You can also provide English as a second language (ESL) tutoring for students across the globe. Cambly will pay you roughly $10 per hour to help non-English speakers with no experience required.

21. Data Entry

Maintaining accurate databases and records is necessary for companies of any size. If you don’t mind typing and have an eye for detail, you can work as a data entry clerk. Many companies outsource data entry because it can be tedious and time-consuming. However, it can also be an easy side gig for people looking to earn some extra money every week.

Data entry jobs are ideal for people with solid typing skills who can work efficiently. Plus, they are often remote positions, so you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home. You can find data entry jobs on job boards like Indeed, LinkedIn, Freelancer, or Upwork.

27 Creative Ways to Make Money

The post 27 Creative Ways to Make Money appeared first on Millennial Money.

So, your 40-hour work week isn’t cutting it. Or maybe you’re a casualty of the tsunami wave of tech layoffs and looking for some creative ways to make money.

If your wallet’s getting squeezed, there are ways to get some monetary relief fast. Here’s a list of some creative and flexible ways to make money.

You can do most of them from your kitchen table at any hour of the day.

27 Creative Ways to Make Money in 2023

1. Take Paid Surveys Online

Ever wanted to give someone a piece of your mind for a solid 10 minutes straight — and not get punched out for it?

What if you could give someone a blunt takedown — without getting whacked — and earn a few dollars for it?

Welcome to the brutally honest world of online surveys.

Earn extra money for weighing in on a variety of hot-button topics, consumer issues, and weird, random surveys that market research companies pay big money to put together.

Most online surveys pay from 50 cents to a few dollars, but do a few surveys a day — every day over a month — you can see how it all adds up. There’s even the occasional in-person focus group opportunity where you can make $200 or more for a few hours of work.

Some of our favorite survey sites to earn extra cash include:

You do need to qualify for and complete a survey in full in order to earn the cash reward. Typically you’ll earn money in points and those points can be redeemed toward free gift cards, PayPal cash, Visa gift cards, or other prizes.

2. Earn Money to Play Games

You could earn up to $100 a month — or more — for playing games like Bingo and Solitaire. In fact, there are a number of game apps that will pay you cash prizes for duking it out head-to-head with other players.

Pit your skills against other card competitors and see who can clear the most cards the fastest. Top players earn over $14K a year.

You can wager different amounts; the higher the wager, the greater the prize potential. Most players won’t see $14K, but if you have decent Solitaire skills and play in smaller (less competitive) prize pots, you could reasonably make $3 to $4 a day.

3. Use a Rewards App

Did you know you could earn $5 free in 3 minutes by getting a free car insurance quote? Or get $1.50 for signing up for a free, new couponing app?

There are thousands of deals like this every day online. Consumers may not know where or how to find them, but the deals platform Kashkick can connect you with the best ones. They’ve cut through the clutter to bring you the best ones.

While there are many similar rewards apps, the deals can be presented in a confusing jumble. Or you need to provide a lot of data in order to “unlock” the available offers. In a stripped-down, streamlined way, Kashkick lets you explore a whole library of cash-paying deals ripe for the plucking.

Kashkick offers can pay anywhere from a couple of dollars to a couple hundred dollars.

4. Open a New Bank Account

Banks are battling for your business, and offering killer deals to get you to switch accounts. You could get up to $200 for signing up with a better bank or credit union this week.

Banks will pay cash bonuses in the hundreds of dollars to win over new customers.

Right now, Chase Bank has a bonus going for new customers. Get $200 from Chase after your first direct deposit is made into your new Chase checking account.

5. Use a Cash Back Shopping App

A number of cash back shopping apps will pay you cash for shopping at your favorite stores online. The cash you get is your rebate – your cut of the shopping app’s commission for sending the store a paying customer.

There are hundreds of cash back shopping programs, but Rakuten (formerly Ebates) is a standout. Rakuten offers you the most cash back (highest rebate percentages) covering a massive directory of nearly 4,000 popular online stores.

Other outstanding cash back shopping apps and extensions include:

6. Start Freelance Writing

Freelance writing is a fantastic way to make money online. Even if you don’t have experience, it’s a career pursuit you can dive into today.

Pick up freelance writing work on gig sites and on more traditional job boards. Make a thoughtful listing that stands out, and be sure to set your rates low to get started and build clients.

Websites to checkout include:

  • Fiverr
  • ProBlogger
  • Flex Jobs
  • Craigslist

You can create profiles on multiple sites to increase your reach.

You can also reach out to existing bloggers and ask if you can write a free article for them. Let them know that you are starting out as a freelance writer and you would like to have a few public bylines to build traction.

Doing this will help you build your portfolio and relationships with other writers.

7. Become a Virtual Assistant

Work-from-home virtual assistants in the U.S. make an annual average salary of just over $59K, with the very best pulling in a whopping 6 figures a year.

Virtual assistant work is only growing in popularity with the explosion of hybrid and remote work. Common virtual assistant job duties include:

  • Maintaining their boss’ work calendar and scheduling appointments.
  • Booking travel.
  • Managing email accounts, including writing and responding to email messages.
  • Online research.
  • Making and answering phone calls.
  • Organizing cloud-based documents in shared folders.
  • Writing or editing reports.
  • Maintaining social media accounts: posting content and replying to comments and direct messages.
  • Reputation management. Replying to online comments and reviews, escalating where needed to their supervisor.

There are many places to search for virtual assistant work or to advertise your services. Job sites to check include:

  • 24/7 Virtual Assistant
  • Virtalent
  • Upwork
  • Fiverr
  • Indeed
  • LinkedIn

8. Deliver Food

Being a food delivery driver is one of the most flexible, money-making ideas you’ll find. Work your own hours, pick up only the deliveries you want, and you’re your own boss.

Nationally, DoorDash drivers earn an average $25 per hour and Dashers can cash out their earnings once a day.

Uber Eats drivers can earn a similar hourly wage, but they are able to cash out their earnings up to 5 times a day.

With either platform, you can earn generous new driver bonuses ranging from $100 to $500.

9. Invest in Real Estate

Investing in real estate isn’t just for the ultra-rich. The explosion in micro-investment apps has made it possible for anyone to own a piece of upscale condos and lucrative commercial real estate.

With as little as $10, you can start buying your own piece of property.

Investors using the Groundfloor app can earn 200 times more interest than what a typical savings account pays, and see a 10 percent average rate of return on their investments.

In addition to Groundfloor, here are some of the other best real estate investment apps:

10. Claim Your Free Blue Chip Stock

Join the free investment app Robinhood. Not only is it free to join, but you’ll get a free blue chip stock worth up to $100.

Robinhood’s the (micro)investment app that makes market disrupters fawn. And stock brokers groan – with equal passion. It’s a great platform for hands-on investors and stock market newbies.

In a clean, simple, beginner-friendly interface, Robinhood brings investing to the masses. With just a few dollars, anyone can buy shares or partial shares in Ulta, Amazon, or roughly thousands of other stocks traded on the NYSE. In addition to stocks, you can invest in index funds, bonds, mutual funds, royalty trusts, and select OTC equities.

Get your free stock from Robinhood now.

11. Get Paid to Search the Web

iRazoo and Qmee are two reward programs that will pay you for completing various online activities, including using their site’s search engine.

Earn rewards with every search, up to a few cents per query.

While it’s not lucrative, it’s not a bad side hustle either. You’re already searching the web every single day, so why not make money online for it?

And it’s not just for Dolly dates. You can scope out potential bosses or job candidates, song lyrics, trending reels, or anything else you’d ask Google.

12. Scan Receipts

Earn up to $20 a month for buying toilet paper and other select supermarket goods.

The grocery and receipt scanning app, Ibotta, will pay you cash for scanning your store receipts. Get paid for scanning the receipt and/or buying featured items. Just take a picture and submit it from your phone. It’s that easy: just click, tap, and send.

And you can make it even more effortless. With Ibotta, you can link your favorite loyalty program to your Ibotta account. This means when you use your loyalty app (i.e, Target Circle) at purchase, Ibotta will do the rest. Ibotta will automatically ID the eligible purchases and credit your account.

Once you reach $20 you can cash out your rewards for PayPal cash or a free Amazon gift card.

Right now, there is a limited-time bonus for new members to earn $10.

13. Sell Your DNA for Science

Scientists need your saliva sample for medical research. In their bid to find cures for chronic diseases and terminal illnesses, stockpiles of spit (unique genetic profiles) to analyze are absolutely crucial.

Sign up for DNA Simple. To register, you need to answer a few questions online. Your information is held in the strictest confidence. Then if they need participants with your genetic makeup for an upcoming study, they’ll send you a free saliva kit in the mail to send back. The return packaging is labeled and prepaid.

All of the saliva samples are analyzed in aggregate — which means they look at your sample as part of a group whole — and do not identify and analyze just your saliva alone.

And it’s 50 bucks a spit. That’s good money for a few seconds of work.

Since it’s for a good cause, you don’t have to feel gross about it.

14. Be a Niche Brand Influencer

Smaller brands need influencers too; it’s not just the ultra-large fashion and lifestyle brands. If you’ve got a smartphone and Internet connection, it’s one of the most fun ways you can earn extra cash money and/or free products.

Figure out what type of products you’re interested in. Then reach out to smaller niche brands and ask if you can promote their goods in exchange for a small cash payment or free merchandise.

You can find these businesses on TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms. If they are posting content to promote their items but have very few followers, that’s a sign they may need help with their social execution.

You don’t need millions or thousands of followers to get started, or even have your own website. You will probably need a couple hundred or more followers now, and a willingness to continue growing your audience with more content.

15. Start a Podcast

Starting a podcast has the potential to make a lot of money and be a rewarding experience as you connect to on-air guests and your listeners.

You don’t need to pick a popular topic to get started or have a naturally soothing, honey-toned voice. Just a willingness to jump in.

You will need a way to record your voice to start. And then you can edit it. There are a number of options for free podcasting software, like Audacity or Zencastr.

After you’ve edited it, upload your recording to podcast directories like Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

16. Make Money to Work Out

Maybe you struggle to find the motivation to work out. Just thinking about exercising makes you do mental somersaults.

So a workout rewards app — that pays you cash for getting fit and staying on track with your healthy lifestyle goals — may be just what you need.

A number of fitness apps will pay you cash and free gift cards for working out.

Some of these fitness reward apps include:

  • Sweatcoin
  • Healthywage
  • Evidation
  • Fitforbucks
  • StepBet

17. Sale Your Unwanted Stuff

You could earn up to $300 a month for regularly purging your closet, along with flipping all those thrift store finds.

It can be a learning curve to figure out which clothing items, sizes, and brands are most in-demand.

tart small by just hawking your own old clothing, and then try scouring the thrift stores for a few items you can sell at a markup.

For some dedicated thrifters, selling secondhand clothing is a full-time day job.

18. Flip Thrift Store Finds

I love finding bargains that I can flip in online marketplaces.

I look for goods that you can easily store and quickly unload with minimal effort – like popular toys and vinyl albums that are priced cheap.

But if you’ve got the patience and know-how to refinish furniture or restore antiques, you could build a business empire.

19. Sell Your Kid’s Old Clothes

There’s big money in used children’s clothing. That box of outgrown apparel could fetch up to $500 online.

Clothing resale apps and Facebook groups are booming.

Many high-end or niche kids’ labels command a major cult following and parents can re-sell their children’s old clothing for 50 percent or more of what they initially paid.

Used clothing markets are flooded with parents hunting for bargains, or those DISO (desperately in search of) limited-time prints for matching sibling outfits.

Popular resale sites and groups for second-hand children’s clothing include:

  • Facebook Marketplace
  • Facebook buy-sell groups
  • Mercari
  • Kidizen

20. Sell Your Old Tech

Most of us probably have a cache of old video games, DVDs, and dated technology that’s just gathering dust — books too.

If you haven’t grabbed a particular movie or book since 2009, I can confidently tell you that the urge won’t suddenly overtake you again.

A smarter move, for your wallet and your sanity, is to get that clutter gone. You can sell old video games (even original NES and Atari), DVDs, books, and CDs. Stores like Half Price Books will pay you cash on the spot. For any items the store doesn’t buy from you, Half Price Books will donate them so you’re not stuck lugging the box back home.

Amazon is another great place to clear out your old media. You can easily list your used items on their Marketplace.

21. Start Pet Sitting

You can get paid up to $1,000 a month to play with dogs and improve your physical and mental well-being.

And you don’t even have to own a dog to get the benefits of canine companionship.

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), regularly waking or playing with dogs can lower your blood pressure and improve your physical fitness and emotional health.

There are a number of dog walking and pet-sitting apps that will connect you with pet owners who need someone to walk their dogs, pet-sit during the day, or even babysit their pet overnight.

Find pet-sitting gigs on these popular apps:

  • Rover
  • Wag!
  • PetWalker
  • GoodPup
  • Wooftrax

22. Start a YouTube Channel

Starting a YouTube channel is a fun way to earn extra money each month. And for dedicated YouTubers, it can even become a full-time job.

With your phone or other recording devices, you can make and share videos and short reels about topics you’re interested in.

Content you could try includes:

  • DIY videos
  • Thrift store hauls
  • Unboxing videos
  • Product reviews
  • Service reviews

The video doesn’t have to be super polished, although using good lighting and a tripod (to keep the phone steady) will help.

Eventually, you can monetize your videos through YouTube ads, product sponsors, and other advertisers.

DIY videos are especially popular and helpful — no matter what the skill. People will often look for DIY videos to explain things that they know to others, like how to post a status update on the TikTok.

23. Trade In Your Old Tech

You can get paid up to $740 cash for your old Apple laptop. The premium tech giant offers cash and generous gift cards for trading in old phones, iPads, and laptops.

Other electronic retailers have similar programs to give new life to your old tech.

  • Amazon: trade in your old Amazon devices (from anywhere you made the purchase) toward a new Amazon device or free Amazon gift cards.
  • Microsoft: customers can trade in old Microsoft devices for cash (via PayPal) or credit toward a device upgrade. Eligible items include laptops, tablets, gaming consoles, or phones. There’s also a business trade-in program.
  • Best Buy: electronics giant Best Buy has an extensive trade-in program for old technology devices. You can get a free and quick estimate of your device’s trade-in value on the Best Buy website. Apply your trade-in toward new gear like wearable technology, phones, laptop, or gaming hardware.

And before you decide to hand off any of your old technology to the kids, ask yourself, “Am I willing to give a child $400?”

I was all set to give my 4-year-old my old iPhone yesterday (to use like an iPad). But then I found out my old iPhone — a bare bones model already three generations behind — was worth $400, and I had a quick change of heart.

Bottom line: your old device could be worth hundreds of dollars. Figure out what the device’s market value is before deciding how, or if, you want to part with it.

24. Wrap Your Car

You can earn up to $450 a month for getting your car professionally wrapped in an advertisement.

If you don’t mind turning your vehicle into an ambulatory billboard, this is a fantastic hustle. You’re already driving your car anyway; now you can get paid to do it. Even after gas and vehicle wear and tear, you’re still coming out ahead.

Advertiser programs that will pay you to wrap your car include:

  • Carvertise
  • Wrapify
  • Nickelytics
  • Free Car Media

25. Sell T-shirts Online

There’s big money in the online business of selling t-shirts. According to Statista, the U.S. t-shirt market is worth just shy of $45 billion – with healthy growth projected over the next four years.

Etsy and Amazon are the most popular storefronts for merchants selling t-shirts. Seller-reported sales figures vary wildly. But sifting through the minutiae (online forums), it appears that $1,000 in profits every month is a common goal that many sellers achieve.

Even beginners with no sewing or graphic design experience can make money at this venture. By printing on demand, you can minimize inventory and other startup costs.

If you’re interested in diving, Printify has lots of great resources to help you get started selling tees.

26. Get Paid to Review Music

If you love listening to new tunes, then Slicethepie is the gig for you.

Earn cash for listening to and reviewing music — up to 20 cents per song review. You won’t make big money fast (or ever) with this sideline, but you won’t find a funner way to earn extra cash. Especially if you’re a major music lover.

If you spend 10-20 minutes per day writing reviews, you could probably earn an extra $10 every two weeks — with $10 being the minimum figure you need to cash out using PayPal.

In addition to music, you can make money for reviewing other types of products and services like:

  • Apparel
  • Accessories
  • Other fashion items
  • TV commercials (pre-release)

27. Get Paid to Test Websites & Apps

With UserTesting, you can earn up to $100 a week for testing websites and apps.

Developers, product managers, and user experience (UX) designers want your feedback on how a website or app works — or doesn’t work — in terms of functionality, web design, and overall ease of use.

Tests can pay anywhere from a few dollars to $60. Most take 10-20 minutes to complete.

You’ll need to turn on your webcam for these tests, and answer the testers’ questions aloud as you use the site (or app) and navigate the user flow.

  • Can you easily find key elements, like help pages, checkout page, or the header menu?
  • Do the images, text, and other page elements load correctly?
  • Does the business appear professional?

These are just a few of the questions you might encounter.

The more detailed and helpful your feedback, the more you can earn over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the secret way to make money?

Many of us are looking for secret ways to make money online because we don’t want to advertise that our budget is stretched thin. Or we have a boss who would not approve of us picking up extra work.

Playing free games and taking online surveys on reward apps is a good way to covertly earn extra cash. While you won’t be able to get rich, survey and rewards apps offer a reliable way to earn an extra $3 to $5 a day over your morning coffee — or while you’re binging your favorite show at night. At $4 a day, that’s an extra $1,464 a year.

How can I make crazy money fast?

This is a common question from readers. And while “crazy” and “fast” are relative terms, here are a few ideas.

  1. Drive for Uber or Uber Eats. Pick the deliveries you want to take and cash out up to 5 times per day. Turn down the 0.5 mile drop-offs or $8 lunch orders and focus on the more lucrative opportunities.
  2. Pick up work on TaskRabbit. There are more open tasks (gigs) listed than taskers available on TaskRabbit. Popular tasks include cleaning, furniture assembly, organizing clutter, snow removal, or gardening work. You are paid almost immediately after the task is completed, and it’s not uncommon for even new taskers to command $15 to $30 per hour.
  3. Plasma donation. Most donors can earn $100 or more for their first donation (with new donor bonuses) and funds paid are generally available within 24 hours. Check with the Red Cross for plasma donation opportunities near you.
  4. Craigslist day gigs. It’s possible to find gigs for the day from short-staffed employers. Common day gigs can include moving, banquet setup or tear-down, snow removal, weeding, or cleaning (commercial or household).

What can make you $100 a day?

There are a variety of side hustles that can consistently make you $100 a day.

  • Driving for Uber or Lyft.
  • Completing random household tasks on TaskRabbit, like decluttering closets or organizing a garage.
  • Babysitting Look for nanny work with set hours every week on Care.com, or other caregiver sites. Rates can vary by geo, but in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area, most nannies can make $20 to $25 per hour.
  • Cleaning houses. Join local community groups online (mom groups, neighborhood groups, etc.) and advertise your services. People hate cleaning and will gladly pay big bucks to offload this chore.
  • Deliver food for a food delivery service like Postmates or Grubhub.
  • Teach English online with VIPKid. The lesson is already prepped for you; make $14 to $18 an hour for teaching English conversation to classrooms of kids overseas. (Mom-speak translation: Speak in English to kids who may not listen to you – just like at home – but at least you’ll get paid for it.)

What is the most fun way to make money?

Fun is definitely a relative term, but some of the more fun ways to make money include working out (Sweatcoin will pay you for walking), playing games, or starting a blog, a podcast, or YouTube channel.

What can I do everyday to make money?

Survey sites like Survey Junkie or InboxDollars are a great way to make extra money everyday. Surveys typically pay 50 cents to $5, but a few surveys every day can add up to an extra $50 to $250 a month. The key is to remain consistent and make sure you work at it daily.

How can I make money for my business?

Making money for your business can be a challenge, and funding needs can vary wildly from business to business. Some ideas include:

  • Get the right credit card for small business owners, which can help you access additional lines of cash with favorable interest rates.
  • Looking into personal loans (including peer-to-peer lending) and bank loans.
  • Find Venture Capital (VC) investors.
  • Apply for special government grants and low-interest loans.
  • Ask for help from future customers on crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe or SeedInvest Technology.

How can I make money and have fun?

When it comes to side hustles, the best way to make money and have fun is to find a side hustle that you really love. I’ve tried well over 100 side hustles over the years, and landed upon a half dozen that I truly enjoy. These are the gigs where I make regular, consistent money ($1,000+ per year), like freelance writing, selling used clothing online (it’s a bit of a love-hate thing), blogging, and playing cash app games.

Try as many gigs and sidelines as you can. When you find ones that “click” you’ll know. But make sure to read reviews first and go into them with realistic expectations about how much you can make and the effort you’ll need to put in.

How can I make money doing nothing?

There are actually quite a few ways you can make money doing nothing. Some of the best do-nothing ways to earn include:

  • Investing. With just a few dollars upfront, you can make money investing in real estate, stocks, and other assets. Check out Acorns, Stash, or Groundfloor. While you’re sleeping, your money will be making money for you.
  • Sleeping. Yes, you can literally make money for sleeping. This can include pet-sitting where you’re getting paid to sleep while boarding a pet in your home, or participating in medical studies.
  • Referrals. Invite your friends to join loyalty programs and apps you really love and you’ll reap the referral You just need to share the invite once. Typically it’s an upfront bonus, but some of the best programs will give you a cut of your friend’s earnings for as long as they’re an active user.
  • Rent your closet. Or your garage spot, crawl space, or attic. Neighbor is a neighbor-to-neighbor app that pays you cash for storing your neighbor’s goods. You get an easy way to monetize the extra space you’re not using, and your neighbor saves an average $40 per month vs what they would otherwise pay at a commercial storage facility.
